Community gathering

It has been a while since we shared any community events. Here is this morning’s chapel service crowd. We enjoyed our regular prayer time, heard special music from James on piano and Roger on trumpet (a teaser for the aftenoon’s luncheon program), and an entertaining and inspiring talk by Dean Cowles, missionary to Kenya.

Happy umpth birthday, Chris!

Surprise on Chris? Even on us. He isn’t 50 until next year, but that didn’t stop us from showing our appreciation and love to this man who greets each of us Young Ladies and gentlemen by name and with a smile. Chris? We hope your surprise brunch and our expressions of appreciation made your day.

Thanksgiving Luncheon

More people have returned for the season, and we had a great crowd for our Thanksgiving luncheon. Some were away for various reasons, but still, we had a great time of fellowship.

Dan and Dottie Shine Greer brought the program, and we wormed away afterwards. (Ask a resident…. Willie the Witnessing Worm was a special guest, and we all can share about him and his witness!) Thanks, Dan and Dottie.

Celebrating Ed Dowdy’s Life

Our beloved Ed Dowdy moved home to be with the Lord. He led his life as an example to many. The Oaks Village family joined with some of Ed and Betty Jo’s friends, children and grandchildren to pay respects and remember and celebrate his life. Naomi ministered in song, the “Dowdy Boys” shared remembrances, then we had Food and Fellowship in true Dowdy and Oaks Village style.
